Linktwitternegative2024-08-08azalofficial No response about my taxi and hotel refund. Please, return my emails!! Flight canceled in London Heathrow on 26th of July without any support to customers. We were asked to book hotel for ourselves in the middle of the night and request refund!! Again, no support!!

Linklinkedinneutral2024-08-07The Central Asia and Caucasus region was again a standout in terms of passenger growth in 1H2024 with Azerbaijan emerging as the fastest growing market. Baku passenger traffic was up 40% in 1H2024 to 3.39 million. It is now on pace to exceed 8 million for the full year vs 5.85 million in 2023. Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has mirrored the rapid growth of its home market with traffic up 47% in 1H2024 to 1.81 million with international up 60% to 1.46 million and domestic up 10% to 0.35 million. AZAL’s load factor improved from 73% to 80%, an indication of the high demand in the Azerbaijani market. At Baku, AZAL carried 1.44 million international and 0.35 domestic pax in 1H2024 while 37 foreign airlines carried 1.58 million. All domestic pax were on Baku-Nakhchivan but in July 2024 AZAL launched its 2nd domestic route to Fizuli. The other 2 airports in Azerbaijan with commercial services, Ganja and Lankaran, only have international flights. Baku accounted for 86% of Azerbaijan’s total airport traffic in 2023 with Nakchivan handling 744,000, Ganja 220,000 and Lankaran only 16,000. AZAL is now the 3rd largest airline group in Central Asia/Caucasus after Air Astana and Uzbekistan Airways (4.0 and 2.7 million pax in 1H2024). Air Astana Group’s growth was 15% and Kazakhstan carriers overall grew 17% to 5.5 million. Almaty International Airport reported a 25% increase in pax traffic in 1H2024 to 5.25 million with domestic up 22% to 2.90 million and international up 30% to 2.35 million. Related post: https://lnkd.in/gwjKH8MU Uzbekistan Airports reported a 36% increase in pax traffic in 1H2024 to 6.37 million, including 5.11 million international and 1.26 million domestic. Earlier post: https://lnkd.in/g8n56Ruz Total airport passenger traffic in Georgia was up 30% in 1H2024 to 3.22 million. Post-pandemic growth until this year was modest in Georgia compared to the other markets in Central Asia/Caucasus. In Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan growth has slowed this year after emerging among the fastest growing in the initial post-COIVD period. Manas, the company operating all airports in Kyrgyzstan, reported a 15% increase in 1H2024 traffic to 2.7 million. Earlier post: https://lnkd.in/g-Wwpm9r At Dushanbe, the main airport in Tajikistan, traffic was up 14% in 1H2024 to 1.14 million. Earlier post: https://lnkd.in/gyZQWVNU Among the 8 countries in Central Asia/Caucasus, only Armenia had a decline in 1H2024 with traffic at its 2 airports down 2% to 2.36 million. But Armenia is still about 70% above pre-COVID levels. Turkmenistan, the smallest market in the region, is not included here as it does not report any traffic data. Turkmenistan’s capacity was significantly higher in 1H2024 vs 1H2023 but was still below 2019 levels as it reopened borders much later than all the other countries. Below is a summary table for the region (ranked by 1H2024 growth rate) and a graphic on AZAL’s 1H2024 growth shared a few weeks ago by Samir Rzayev.
